The burning bush

In the movie “The Ten Commandments” we see a portrayal of The Burning Bush Moses saw on Mount Horeb. We find out this Burning Bush was a physical symbol of God, (Exodus 3:1-6).
God spoke to Moses giving him a vision of his path, and Ministry. Hollywood brings alive Moses’s episodes with God in epic splendor — but was it so epic?

We all want God to guide us hand by hand as He did Moses and others — for instance, Noah, Abraham, Elijah, Jonah and even Jesus; too, let’s not forget Saul/the Apostle Paul just to name a few, and here’s the good news, He does. God does guide us hand by hand.

We can’t let Hollywood nor ignorance portray God as a respecter of person, [ meaning favoritism ] because scripture says He’s not, (Romans 2:11). So, when we remove Hollywood, and ignorance, it all comes down to Faith. Subsequently, Moses heard a word from the Spirit of God as he viewed a bush burning without it being consumed on mount Horeb and acted by faith in obedience to what was seen and heard.

How does God speak to you and me? It’s by the Holy Spirit. How can we have Moses type moments and miracles? It’s by the Holy Spirit; the same Holy Spirit of yesterday is the same Holy Spirit of today and is tomorrow.

The same Holy Spirit that is in each and every one of us today — once saved, is the same Holy Spirit that spoke to Moses and raised Jesus from the dead, (Romans 8:11). The same Holy Spirit that was the column of fire at night, and the column of smoke during the day at the Exodus for the Hebrews when they were out in the wilderness, (Exodus 13:21).

The same Holy Spirit that told Abraham to pack his bags; leaving the life he knew to go to a land He would be shown, (Genesis 12: 1-3) plus, put new life in his and Sarah’s body so they’d have a child well into their old age when their bodies were dead for reproduction, (Genesis 18:1) and (Genesis 18:11).

The same Holy Spirit that had Noah build a 450 foot, by 75 feet, by 3 stories tall box out of wood that the Bible called an Ark; nowhere near water, with the promise of rain which had never happened before, (Hebrews.11:17). Noah stepping out in faith after being warned by God of things not seen of yet [ rain ].

The same Holy Spirit that had Ravens feed Elijah morning and evening while he was on a mountain hiding, (1st King 17:6). And who stop the rain for three 3 and 1/2 years, (James 5:17).

The same Holy Spirit that sent a word from God to Jonah telling him to go to Nineveh, (Jonah 1:1,2). Jonah tried not to but God prevailed, (Jonah 3:3).

The same Spirit Saul heard on his way to Damascus that was Jesus, (Acts 9:3-6) and because of his obedience to faith became the Apostol Paul.

Yesterday, [ the Old Testament ] God use the Holy Spirit in spots to anoint a person here and there for a task. Today because of Jesus [ the New Testament ] the Holy Spirit has anointed each and every one of us with a task, and it’s no different from yesterday, up to now, and tomorrow; it’ll require us to step out in faith in order to be obedient to it.

Having a Moses type calling and relationship with God today is easier than yesterday because we have the Holy Bible giving us examples, and that’s an advantage. They didn’t have that yesterday.

The Burning Bush of yesterday is the spoken word of God today found in Scripture. The Holy Spirit doesn’t come and go from person to person like yesterday, He’s here to stay and dwell inside each and every person, male or female young or old, every race and ethnic group; giving us the same power He gave Moses and all the Prophets of old, and now the Saints, [ the born-again/saved ] today…Wow! What you say! Amen. I just wrote myself happy.

We can’t humanize God. We can’t assume that grass is greener on the other side for a few, and Hollywood wasn’t there to film Moses. We have such an overwhelming advantage today then the Prophets of yesterday to be face-to-face with the Burning Bush daily with our Moses type of hands on guidance we crave. Hey, if it still hasn’t sunk in yet, I’m talking about the Holy Spirit that was sent to us as a comforter by God through Jesus, (John 14:16).

Word of note: My prayer is for us to understand what is written in (Hebrews 11:6), that without faith it’s impossible to please God, and we’re to know that He exist, burning bush or not.
